Re-Badging the Grenadier

There are many large companies that have catalogs full of car accessories, but often some of the most interesting come from small artists on Etsy and similar sites. Often these are the smallest of businesses - just one person - and sometimes veteran owned. If I find a great product from this type of company, it feels worth showcasing. Today's comes from ArtifactDesignNC.

My new Ineos Grenadier has some cool badges on it. Whether it's commemorating the British design heritage paired with the German powertrain...

...or the "Fieldmaster" trim badge, derived from the 1924 Belstaff Fieldmaster jacket which became legandary for motorcycling and military use...

As cool at the badges are, the manufacturer's front quarter panel badge begs to be updated. It's the Ineos logo which already has a spot on the tail and nose of the truck. So this one could easily be improved:

I came across ArtifactDesignNC on Etsy. They make custom badges to replace this one, and some of their worked looked interesting. I ordered one up customized with my company name and the island where I live. It arrived today and I was very impressed.

Each custom badge is a thick piece of solid aluminum, etched with the custom logo and pattern.

They were great with communications around the design. An email arrived shortly after the order with a few sketches as a starting point. I gave some feedback which they incorporated and we then locked on the design. A few days later, this arrived in the mail.

Swapping the badges involved using a heat gut on the old rubber Ineos badge. Once sufficiently hot, a plastic pry tool will pull it away from the mounting slot on the truck. The badge has automotive-grade adhesive tape, and fits perfectly into the badge notch.

Now, my Grenadier is a bit more my own.
